Asante - 24 gave their lives to Jesus!

Dear Praying Partner,

Sorry things have been busy here it's been a bit difficult at times to get on the net.
Pass my sincere appreciation to the intercessors who travail and pray for this work. You can share with them the following note of victory.

Kids singing & dancing…
Thanks for your continual prayers... indeed they've availed much and produced much more results in God's Kingdom. The meeting with Gang members went on very well. They sat and listened to God's message of salvation and at the end were given a chance to respond to salvation call. 24 gave their lives to Jesus!
Pastor Wilson Onyango also a children’s minister in Kibera, shared the word the gang members. Wilson was born and raised in the kawangware slum east of Nairobi and moved into Kibera with family since 1979. He was instrumental in helping address issues affecting the slum youth & culture culture.

We got around 70-75 gang members turn up. Most of them couldn't find the place as the church facility is relatively new for them in the area (we're planning to paint it up with bright colors for visibility). Some of them dropped off, since we had postponed the meeting from Saturday to Sunday (due to a funeral there on Saturday).

The atmosphere was great, kids were singing, dancing and playing make up drums as the meeting went on in the back ground (inside kids church), as they were fully aware of God answering our prayers. Some of our kids have been victims of being shot by stray bullets during police and gang battles.

My friend Steve Tolo from Kisumu was also there to be a part of this vital ministry. He challenged the youth to seek partnership with the government in areas of poverty eradication & wealth creation opportunities.

Showers of Revival
Just at the end of the service and alter calls, God sent showers of rains just to confirm what my revival class and church history lecturer always taught us, that in many cases, God always answers our prayers with these kinds of signs. Linda came whispered into my ears and saying that it reminds her of Dr. Geoff... then I asked what? The showers... then I remembered Geoff’s stories of revival in Fiji and other places www.renewaljournal.com.

NBM (Nairobi Believers Mission) youth and ladies did a great Job in areas of welcoming visitors and serving them with food. The people are really starving in this community. Their spokesperson finally said that he wasn't expecting such a warm reception from the church. I had felt led by the Spirit just to give them a hug and show them love. They are just humans who soften when shown love. They must have been brought up with lots of rejection and that's what they know... -rejecting each other. The church plays a pivotal role of showing love to those who feel rejected and neglected. Thanks for your encouragement and support. We continue in prayers for the discipling of these dear souls.

Soul winning is our main agenda. We are continually working to empower our existing leaders on Holy Spirit led evangelism, where everyone is required to verbally witness about Jesus and do follow-ups with an aim of discipleship.

Pray for us so that the Holy Spirit may lead us on the most effective way/ method of following up with the gangs. Firstly, they need Bibles and basic Christian literature to help them grow spiritually. We are greatly encouraged by your partnership.

We are now working on a follow up and discipleship plan for these saints as we continue to evangelise the rest of the group. The whole group, both Muslim, pagans and now Christian are keen to abandon crime life and to engage in making clean money through employment or even entrepreneurship. We are already working on a proposal that if adopted, will employ them to take care of Kibera' public health and hygiene (including cleaning up streets, rivers, and rehabilitating toilets and water provision) for a start.

Dear saint, the devil has been fighting against this with all he could, but I'm glad that God had His hand on it. There has been lack of interest from the government and politicians as some are already afraid that they may loose their voters who'll eventually move on for better livelihoods in better neighbourhoods (but I believe that they'll in turn gain more respect from them and even continue to vote for transformational leadership for Kenya’s posterity)

I've been suffering from a viral bug with severe headaches since last Thursday night, that would go away with pain relievers. It got worse on 7/9/08 but through the prayers of the saints coming from all over the globe, we made it through. I’m recovering quite well as Linda and I are hanging out with the kids at home more. It’s a great life! Pray that we get a holiday soon.

Regards to all and pass my sincere appreciation to all the saints who're praying for Kibera's transformation. It's already taking the devil by surprise! We God's people make a mighty team under the blood of the covenant!
